2025 Nissan Armada PRO-4X: Capability and Comfort Combine

The 2025 Nissan Armada PRO-4X has been getting more attention – and for good reason. With the new-generation full-size SUV, Nissan has upped the off-road capability we have been known for in a family-sized three-row vehicle. Media reviewers have been pointing out how the combination of family space/comfort and off-road prowess is a winner, including Audacy radio’s AutoNsider, who took the 2025 Armada PRO-4X through its paces recently.  

What the reviewer learned is that the combination of family comfort and off-road capability works very well. He remarked that the 2025 Armada PRO-4X gave him “another level of confidence and security” overall. He added that it “rides really good and looks really good.” What earned the 2025 Armada PRO-4X compliments are a mix of capability and comfort, starting with a new frame that has 25% greater torsional rigidity and 57% increased lateral stiffness. The improved frame yields better ride quality and sound isolation.  

Powering the 2025 Armada PRO-4X is a twin-turbo, direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 engine. Rated for 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, the new engine features numerous technologies to help improve efficiency, including Idle Stop-Start and mirror bore coatings in the cylinders to reduce friction. It’s paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. With the 2025 Armada PRO-4X, you can also tow up to 8,500 pounds. To assist you in towing, there is the standard Trailer Blind Spot Monitoring, that can warn you of vehicles in blind spots even when towing. 

The standard Intelligent 4WD on the 2025 Armada PRO-4X adds an electronic locking rear differential for better traction management and off-road capability. Adaptive Electronic Air Suspension, 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and a metal underbody skid plate provide a full driving experience even when going does not get rough. With suspension raised to the highest setting – 2.1 inches above standard height – the 2025 Armada PRO-4X has a ground clearance of 9.6 inches. Combined with an approach angle of 33.0 degrees, a 25.5-degree breakover angle, and a 24.5-degree departure angle, you will find ways to get through almost everything. 

It also helps to have eight selectable drive modes to tackle the job, each altering vehicle systems to optimize performance for the selected scenario. Modes include Snow, Sand, Rock, and Mud/Rut. Hill Descent Control helps manage speeds when going downhill. An Off-road Information Display features an inclinometer, slip indicator, and a steering angle indicator. 

One innovation that will be very useful is the Invisible Hood View. Viewed from the 14.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, this view helps spot obstacles by providing a virtual view “through” the engine bay. You can also switch to a Front Wide View for a wide-angle vantage of the front, along with a 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor for a rotating perspective to spot obstacles and hazards from nearly any angle.
