Performance

The Rogue has one of the most sophisticated engines in the segment: a 1.5-liter Variable Compression turbocharged inline-3. There are other turbocharged small-displacement engines in the segment, but none have Nissan’s exclusive Variable Compression technology. While high compression offers the benefits of efficiency and power, it does not fit well with turbocharging, as its forced pressure creates increased compression on its own. Too high compression causes knocking, reducing power, and damaging the engine.    

Nissan’s Variable Compression uses a complex linkage in the piston rods to reduce compression when turbocharging is active, such as acceleration or when the engine is under high load. The engine will then increase compression when the turbocharger is less active, such as during sustained highway cruising.    

The result is a small engine generating 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque while also delivering exceptional EPA-estimated city/highway/combined fuel economy of 30 / 37 / 33 with FWD and 29 / 36 / 32 with AWD.  These figures are best-in-class for non-hybrid models. Also helping with those figures is the Xtronic CVT, which Nissan has adjusted over the years to provide smooth, unobtrusive operation and quick response.   

Exterior

The 2025 Rogue continues with the new look of the 2024 model, including a V-motion grille with horizontal slats extending to the edge on each side. The Platinum model also features gloss-black lower trim on the front, rear, and sides.    

The off-road-focused Rock Creek model has its own unique appearance. It has a gloss black front grille with three upper silver accents that are a homage to the Hardbody pickup truck and Pathfinder—Nissan’s first SUV. It also sports Lava Red accents, gloss black side view mirrors, and a 220 lb. capacity tubular roof rack with integrated crossbars sporting its own Lava Red accents. Contributing to both appearance and capability, the Rock Creek also has its own rolling stock with 235/65R17 Falke Wildpeak all-terrain tires wrapping 17-inch satin black wheels.   

Interior

The Rogue cabin seats five comfortably and is filled with thoughtful storage solutions. The center console’s “butterfly-style” lid enables easy access to stored items from the first and second rows. Behind the rear seats is 36.5 cubic feet of cargo space. 60/40 split rear seatbacks allow you to maximize cargo space with any number of passengers. With all seats folded and just the driver and front passenger in tow, it enables 74.1 cubic feet of space. The available Divide-N-Hide® system provides hidden and secure storage for small items below the cargo area floor and also offers a choice of a fully flat load floor or a lower floor position for increased load height.    

S and SV models feature white-on-black analog gauges with a center digital information display. SL and Platinum models provide a configurable digital color driver information center. Elsewhere in the cabin, vibrant colors and textures for the door panels, seats, center console, and passenger-side dashboard trim add to an upscale appearance. Rock Creek interior enhancements include water-repellent leatherette seating with unique inserts, Lava Red accent stitching, and piano black dashboard trim.   

On the Platinum model, the luxury ambiance is further enhanced by available Chestnut brown leather on the dash, door panels, and quilted semi-aniline leather seats.    

Technology

The SV and Platinum Rogue are equipped with the Google Built-in operating system behind a stunning 12.3-inch landscape-formatted touchscreen display. In addition to being quick and responsive, the world’s most popular navigation app, Google Maps, is onboard, as is the Google Assistant voice recognition system, with other apps available for download from Google Play.    

These systems, along with a smartphone-like interface, operate without needing a connected smartphone. However, if you prefer Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™, they are available wirelessly. These grades also provide a wireless charging pad in the front. Rogue S and SV offer the intuitive connectivity of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.  

Safety and Driver Assistance

The 2024 Rogue earned an overall 5-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and checked off all of the NHTSA’s recommended safety technologies. All Rogues come standard with the Nissan Safety Shield® 360 system, which includes an array of safety and driver assistance features:

• Blind Spot Warning   

• Rear Cross Traffic Alert   

• High Beam Assist    

Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist system is standard on all but the base S grade, combining Intelligent Cruise Control and Steering Assist for more confident and relaxed highway cruising. The system uses a forward-facing camera and forward-facing radar combined with other sensors to help keep Rogue centered within its lane. The Intelligent Cruise Control maintains a set speed in sparse traffic, and when there are too many vehicles to keep that speed, it keeps a set timed distance from the vehicle ahead.  The system can even bring the vehicle down to a complete stop in stop-and-go traffic and hold it in place until traffic moves again.   

On SL and Rogue models, which feature an onboard navigation system, the ProPILOT Assist Navi-Link feature uses information from the navigation data to help proactively adjust Rogue’s speed ahead of road curvature in freeway interchanges and freeway curves.   

Available on the SL and Platinum is the all-new ProPILOT Assist 2.1, which enables attentive drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel in single-lane freeway operation. The system covers acceleration, steering, and braking. It is based on pre-mapped highways, a map found at your Nissan dealer.
