Performance

Every model of the 2025 Frontier features a 3.8-liter V-6 that produces 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission—more than plenty for this truck that only weighs 4,709 pounds in its heaviest PRO-4X trim. All models get standard Active Brake Limited-Slip, while PRO-4X models get upgraded to an electronic locking differential for extra traction on various surfaces. 

For 2025, each Frontier trim tows about 500 pounds more than the 2024 model. While there are some variations in maximum towing capacity depending on the model you choose, the least that the Nissan Frontier can tow is 6,880 pounds in SV 4×4 trim and the most is 7,150 pounds in S 4×2 trim. The Frontier has a max payload capacity of 1,620 pounds. All Frontier trims feature standard Trailer Sway Control for extra confidence and safety when towing.

Exterior

This latest generation Frontier combines modern features and stylings with classic touches from the ‘80s and ‘90s. A wide grille accentuates the front of the Frontier and gives way to a new headlight style, giving the Frontier a strong and powerful presence. The 2025 refresh includes a new front fascia. LED headlights, daytime running lights, and fog lights are standard on PRO-X and PRO-4X models, with LEDs being optional on other trim levels. 

Each 2025 Frontier trim level now has a standard sliding rear window. SV models get standard 17-inch alloy wheels, and PRO-X/PRO-4X get new wheels. Afterburn Orange joins as a new paint option.

The 2025 Nissan Frontier carries over the same 126-inch wheelbase as the previous generation, meaning that the truck has not grown beyond what is the best size for many customers who aren’t looking for a Titan or Titan XD. Buyers can choose between the four-door Crew Cab, two-door extended cab King Cab, in either four- or two-wheel drive. Buyers can opt for either a standard bed or long bed—the standard bed length is 59.5 inches (5 feet) and 72.7 inches (6.1 feet) in long bed form. The King Cab Frontier has a long bed as the standard bed. For the first time, the long-wheelbase, long-bed configuration is available across the entire lineup.

Interior

One big change that Nissan made to the redesigned Frontier for 2022 was to the storage space, increasing interior storage capacity from 48.8 liters to 51.2 liters. Center console storage was increased to 4 liters, with 6.5 liters in the front door pockets and 5.7 liters of pocket storage in the rear doors. There are a total of eight cup holders, including four in the doors of Crew Cab models that are able to hold 32-ounce bottles. 

Added interior insulation reduced engine noise by 5 decibels, unnecessary road noise by 3 dB, and wind noise by 2.5 dB. Standard Zero Gravity seats that the Frontier and Titan share decrease driving fatigue over long distances by improving posture. 

For 2025, SL and PRO-X/PRO-4X models have standard four-way power adjustable passenger seats, while SV and higher adds two-way power lumber to the six-way power driver’s seat. All grades get a telescopic-adjusting steering wheel.

Technology

2025 Frontier trucks are not only meant to be great on the road, but they also have great technology for off-road use. With Nissan Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection and Off-Road Mode you can see everything that’s around the truck when driving off-road. The PRO-4X has cameras that automatically turn on when the truck is put into 4LO, which is best for driving on tighter trails. When you are on certain trails you will usually want a spotter to make sure that your truck doesn’t get damaged. However, with all of the cameras it definitely makes driving in tricky situations much easier. With the latest refresh, the Off-Road Mode now works at speeds up to 12 mph. 

An 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard, with a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system available on SV and higher trims that adds wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The instrument cluster features a 7.0-inch Drive-Assist Display. All models have standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with PRO-X and PRO-4X models also having a wireless charger. All Frontier SL trucks receive a wireless phone charger and Around View Monitor as standard for the first time.

All models feature two front USB ports, one being USB-C and two front 12V outlets. Crew Cab models add two rear USB ports, which like the front ports features one USB-C port. SV and PRO models give owners a 120V outlet with 400-watt capability plug in the back seat and in the truck bed. Those two trim levels can also option a 10-speaker Fender premium audio system.

Safety and Driver Assistance

All 2025 Frontier models come standard with some of the best safety features on any modern truck, including Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System with Easy Fill Tire Alert.

All trim levels for 2025 now get Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Parking Sensors, High Beam Assist and Intelligent Cruise Control, as standard. SL gets Traffic Sign Recognition.

Buyers can further add a Dual Camera Drive Recorder that is attached to the inside of the windshield and records everything in front of the vehicle so that you have video evidence in case of an emergency.
